I need to come up with more orginal post names

GBJazzMan| April 24, 2007 1:14 pm

Apparently two unrelated posts within the last couple of days had the same title. I apologize for the unorginal-ness and I will try to do better in the future.

Penguicon was a lot of fun, as you could probably tell from my few blog posts from during the con. If I had to do it over again, I’d get a hotel room. And probably spend more time in the game room. Also, get more ribbons.

I found a distro of linux today that seems like it’d be fun to play with. It’s called Damn Vulnerable Linux. It’s basically one big security exploit. I’m gonna download it and give it a whirl tonight.

The idiot in my classes got his hands on one of the same hacking books I have. Now I have to go through it because the last thing I want is that moron acting like he knows more than I do. I don’t know if it’s jealous or just a desire to make sure that idiots stays in his place.

Trish is a dumb bitch

GBJazzMan| April 11, 2007 1:18 pm

A dumb bitch almost got lunchb0xed today at Panera. I was waiting in line for my bagel, and this dumb bitch just kept creeping up on me. I this close to pulling the old “I’m acting like I’m stretching but in reality I’m trying to punch you in the face.” For people who were unaware, being crowded is one of my biggest pet peeves. Evar.

Class was really interesting today. Again, I’m learning stuff new in my XP class, like setting up roaming profiles and stuff like. But with the good, comes the bad, and the village idiot kept rambling on about wanting to learn to hack. I’m not leet or anything, but wannabe script kitties like that irate the shit out of me.

I tried to get a Nintendo Wii yesterday, but there was none to be had. Which while is disappointing, I’m not to torn about it. I’ll just have to make sure I don’t blow it all on …stuff before then. Which is really tempting, ’cause you know, I really need a smartphone that I’ll end up trying to put linux on anyways.

Call Toronto, Canada’s Broken

GBJazzMan| April 5, 2007 10:42 am

I’m not surprised that it’s snowing in fucking April, but it doesn’t mean I’m any less pissed off about it. That being said, I hope it gets nice for my cousin’s wedding next weekend.

Yesterday we did World’s Largest Dungeon. The party is now level 6, and they’re out of the first section, into the second section of the dungeon. Ben was not there on account of food poisoning, so we gave him levels in bard. Hope he doesn’t get too upset.

I  attended the first meeting of the A+ club on campus, which is cool. I’m really looking foward to getting my certs, and although I already know everything in the A+ test, so I kinda need it to get everything else.

And that’s it.

A post about….things

GBJazzMan| March 30, 2007 12:16 am

Not only do I need to work on my endings, but I need to work on my titles also.

Today after Class, me and some of the guys hung out at Mark’s house. We had some adventures with the wireless router, but it was good times.  Me? I burned 150 KoL turns there.

Speaking of Hard shots, I’m acsended today for the 3 time. Which is pretty cool. With Brad’s help, things are getting alot easier. It also helps that the RNG didn’t bone me during the NS fights.

Played poker today, I won 50, but I felt bad for dad. I dunno if he’s getting on the wrong tables or if the deck’s just cold for him, but I feel bad for him. I did have quad kings tho, which was pretty sweet.

I think I’m gonna start using my camera and my Flickr account. Stay tuned

Dotcha just hate it when you’re like “I’m gonna blog!” and then forget halfway through what the hell you were gonna blog about? Yeah, just happened with me.

Why are my hands always freezing?

GBJazzMan| March 28, 2007 2:44 pm

Seriously, anytime I play poker or goto a coffee shop, my hands clam up and start getting cold, which is kinda odd.

The WinXP class I’m taking continues to surprise me as to material that I’ve never learned and therefore I’m actually getting more out of the class than “This is how you install Windows”.  The book we’re using is actually very well done. It’s the MSCE book, and I’ll give it to Microsoft, they write a pretty good textbook. What is also surprising is that the one moron in the class is starting to get serious about learning. Tomorrow’s lecture I think will be the judging factor as to if today was a fluke or not.

I am all sorts of tired right now, I think my attempt to cut down on caffiene (sweet, sweet caffeine is backfiring on me)

Tonight I’m hitting up the old U to the M – Flint for the Anime club meeting. I miss those guys, and I’m really glad Todd e-mailed me (and that I kinda opened Thunderbird on accident -_-) I really enjoy anime, and they’re a terrific group, life just got in the way.

Staples has a omgwtfbbq sale on Cruzer thumbdrives. 2 gig for $25! I bought one, and I might by another. And I might actually set one up via Hak5’s specs. Which leads into an interesting tangent: Have you ever noticed that everyone on the planet calls the USB memory drives different names? I’ve always called them thumbdrives, I’ve got one instructor call them geek sticks and one of my text books calls them keychain drives. No insightful commentary on this phenomena, just an aside.

I’m at the Beanery killing time at the moment, and  there are a couple of (what are my guess) teenage girls just talking, which is no big deal. The one just keeps rambling about her boyfriend/fiance, and they both sound completely insipid. Is this a maturity thing or do Brad and I sound like that when we Nerd Bomb Panera?

Holy long posts, Batman. I think I need to work on my endings

haha! I’m posting from the internet

GBJazzMan| March 20, 2007 2:33 pm

Time for an update on the world of Lunchbox!

This weekend I played so much poker. Holy shit. Cash game at Motorcity (played okay), the bingo hall (started off okay, then started to donk chips off), and the home game (came in second after having being very short stack).

Will and I tonight record the first of the new Hoobajoob Report, which I’m in the process of setting up a blog for. I’ll try to post the old reports, too.

I got an email from Todd, of UMF anime club fame, wonder what the hell happened to me. I’m a bad friend (also, forgetful)

There’s a con in April in Troy. It’s a scifi/computer/anime/gaming con, which fits perfectly into my ADD. I want to go so bad. I haven’t been to a con since Acen 2005

Oh well, that’s all I got right now

So much for my grand experiment

GBJazzMan| March 13, 2007 9:15 am

So my plans to use Linux on a daily basis at school had a monkey wrench thrown in it today. In the form of everyone using Windows and such. I’m going to have to setup Chiyo to dual boot so I can use VB. Which means I’m gonna have to reinstall Linux, loosing all of my hard work. Oh well, not like I’m loosing too much.

I’m glad that Will using Linux, ’cause it gives me someone to “talk shop” to.  Like he and I have been talking about just random shit while my instructor has been talking about multiple forms in VB. I kinda already know how to do that.

So the kind sitting next to me is looking at Gaia Online. The /b/tard in me wants to call him a fag, but I know I shouldn’t.

I think I might be allergic to Visual Basic, cause I’ve done nothing but sneeze since class started.

THe RNG in KoL hates me. I need a friggin’ awful poetry journal and it’s not droppin’. Grr.

Well, that’s it for now. I’ll probably post later.

What has been happening in the world of Matt

GBJazzMan| January 14, 2007 12:49 am

The holidays were okay, first off, except for the fact that everyone in my imidate family was sick. Mom and Dad both had a 48 hour stomach flu the week before Christmas. Puking and all. I had an allergic reaction to somethign I ate at Doty’s the week after Christmas and I had to goto the ER. That being said, 50ml of Benedryl through an IV is fun. Also, Dad’s gonna need to have surgery on his back and has been off of work since mid December. So yes, we’ve been one big happy family.

The haul for Christmas wasn’t bad, I got some money (most of which I’ve pissed away playing poker, more on that later), some DVD (If you haven’t seen Stargate: Atlantis, do yourself a favor and do it.) and some books. Not bad, really. I got a $25 iTunes giftcard from my Uncle Jim and Aunt Nancy (is it said the relatives who most “get” me are the ones I only see on the holidays?), and I’ve barely put a dent on it. I guess they need to make some decent music.
So, yeah, the Law of Averages has been hating on me a lot lately. On Thursday, I went to the Bingo hall to play poker, and I had Queens full cracked by quad sixes. The dude did slow roll them to perfection, I’m just glad I made the correct read. I seriously don’t think I’ve gotten a flush in atleast 3 weeks. I’m just gonna play it tight and wait for the cards to hit. To make it even worse, on Thursday I was playing Blood Bowl against Brad, and he proceeded to kill two of my guys, and KO atleast 7 of them. His team’s got the same Armor as mine, and yet, I didn’t break armor once.

Speaking of hard shots, Mom and I bought Dad the WSOP PS2 game to help from going insane. The way I understand it, a disk has buldge in his back, and that’s pitching a nerve that is cause the intense pain that he’s under. He can’t sit up straight for more than a half an hour. And he does like to play online poker, and we figured this would be a decent substitute. Better than the GBA game I bought him, anyway.

So he and I have been tag teaming tourneys and such on that, and I’m starting to get my eye back. That is, I’m recognizing the weird ass straight that people hit. We’re a bit at odds tho, because although we both enjoy hold ‘em, he likes Omaha and Omaha HiLo Split, and I like Razz.  Also, HORSE tourneys are lots of fun.

Today in VB, Noah and I made a simple RPG. I basically wanted to see if I could do it, which I could. Right now it’s a single form program that only hands combat at the moment, but I’m working on getting a market set up. And by market I mean Ye Olde WalMarte. We were both ahead in class and didn’t really have anything else better to do. Kinda makes me want to dust off my perl skillz and make a textbased RPG in perl.

I haven’t done any writing lately (::hides from the Wrimos::). I just haven’t had any ideas. I do now, tho, and unless I get sucked into watching a shitty movie with Dad (Atomic Train was awful), I’ve got some ideas. I think I’m gonna do the whole “carry a small notepad for ideas” idea.

Also, may pokemans, let me show you them.

Hahahah, coffee!

GBJazzMan| December 9, 2006 9:56 am

I’m at school right now, and all I can say is that tsome of these people are way to awake and active for Saturday morning. I’ve had coffee today, and I’m still have asleep.

Last night, before I went to I had a panic attack for the first time in a while, and I’m not sure exactly why. I’ve got my shit together at school, I’ve come to terms with work and my depression’s under control. So in short, I have no idea why, but you know what, I’ll take one panic attack every three months or so over every night.

So NaNoWriMo unleashed the inner novelist in me and now I want to write all the time. I’ve got three ideas bouncing around in my head and I’m just waiting to pass Nova Titan off to Will. One of the eyes if for Shadowrun, another idea is loosely based off of Spencer’s DnD campaign. The last idea I don’t to say to much about, because it’s actually original. I’m gonna start working on it tonight and tomorrow and if I get anything written, I’ll post a bit to tease all five of you who read this.

I forgot how simple coding in VB was. Form manuplation is easy. I’ve got a feeling that I’m gonna help teach the class, because my Instructor has said on several occasions that he is not a programmer.

Pinko and I are thinking about getting the band back together, and by band I mean podcast. I know I’ve said that before but whatever.

Long time no post

GBJazzMan| December 2, 2006 7:50 pm

This seems to be a reaccuring theme with me.

The question on everyone’s tongue is how did my Nano go. Well, I won. My novel’s no where finished, but I did reach the 50k word goal. I plan on doing a bit more writing then doing editing. And if what I have after that isn’t utter dogshit, I’m gonna make a webcomic out of it. Or that’s the plan, atleast

Work is work and school is schoo, but I did pull a 4 poin this quarter. Completely awesome

One last thing before I go get something to eat, here is a real conversation between Spencer and I after we saw three GB Township cruiser in a driveway at his park.

Me: Wow, it’s the po po.

Spencer: I wonder what they’re doing.

Me: Crack House.

Spencer: Yeah right.

Me: You should care tho, it’ll knock down property values.

Spencer: We don’t own anything.

Me: What about the lots?

Spencer: Yeah, we pay lot rent.

Me: So bring on the crack houses?

Spencer: Yeah, lower their property values!

It was a lot funnier there, I guess
