We left all the food at the food place!
GBJazzMan| July 14, 2007 9:56 amThursday was my last day at the food library. I quit yesterday, and although it was a somewhat shitty job, I was a bit torn. Everyone that I talked to wished me luck and no one seemed to hold any ill will that I just up and quit. I figure I’ve got one year left on my degree, and I’ll make the money from work study work until then. I am kinda glad that I don’t need to wear a thermal long sleeve in the middle of summer for work anymore.
I’m playing really good genius type poker lately. I played last night and ended up taking $100 off of people at a 2-4 game as they busted out of the multi-table tourney. Those tables are soft. I have no qualms at saying that I’m probably one of the best limit players in the area. That’s not me bragging, that’s me saying that I win more at $2-4 limit, probably the hardest game to win at, then anyone else around. I saw one guy last night, dip into his wallet 3 times. He blew like $140 in over an hour. I might loose in a given night, but I’m not dipping into my wallet over and over.
This was the guy that I won a $50 pot against. He raised in middle position with queens and I called from the big blind with 8-6 offsuit. The flop came 8-8-6. I flopped the nuts. And I checked the nuts. Guy to my left bets, Dad (who had busted out of the tourney) calls, orginal raiser raises, couple of calls, then I drop the hammer on ‘em. Long story short, I won a big pot and this dude, who obviously doesn’t know how to play limit, looked like I had punted his dog or something.
Speaking of hard shots, I am convinced that after watching the Mixed Texas Hold ‘em event from the World Series on ESPN, I could clean up that table up. Why? Because no body knows how to play limit. Of the 9 players at the final table, one of them knew how to play limit. Only problem is, is that the buying for that event is $5000, which I currently don’t have, and doubt I’ll have the self control to have by next June. That being said, I’m really tempted to sell pieces of my action in exchange for pwning some noobs. Also, Bracelet.
On my way to work this morning, I passed by Oliver T’s, the one fancy grocery store in Grand Blanc and their sign said “Jarlsberg Cheese on sale” and my first reaction was “I wonder if I could zap some regular cheese to get that”. I need to lay off the Kingdom of Loathing.
That’s all I got for now. At least it’s a post, yeah.

I got pretty much the same treatment when I quit Target back in 2002 to go work for an ISP. Everybody congratulated me for finding a “real” job that didn’t involve working at a grocery store. Of course, I pulled some shenanigans on the last day to get back at people who pissed me off, so I didn’t fare as well in the “ill will” department.
/ineligible for rehire at Target

Yeah, I didn’t do any shenanigans when I quit. I just turned in my badge and price gun and left. Mainly because I need food.
